There's a lot to be grateful for at TPPS
We have been celebrating Gratitude Week for several years. A week of activities that encourage our students to be mindful and show gratitude. The students participate in meditation, yoga, song writing, journal writing, rock painting, music therapy and more. A short video was put together to highlight the importance of gratitude in our daily lives. Please enjoy....Link: http://bit.ly/2yNQIhH

Learn French at TPPSAt TPPS, we value the benefits of learning a second language!
Research shows there are many advantages in learning a second language: *Improved cognitive functioning *Enhanced memory, listening and problem solving skills *Improves your English *Boosts creativity *Builds confidence *Slows dementia *Travel opportunities All students (K-6) learn French for an hour a week. We have taken great measures to become a hub for French language learning in our community and offer several great opportunities... FRENCH IMMERSION Program In partnership with FASS (Francophone Association of Southern Sydney), we are very pleased to be offering Kindergarten 2018 families a French Immersion program at our school. We have received substantial community support in providing the program. The teacher is parent funded and team teaches with the Kindergarten teacher, teaching the Australian Curriculum in French (4 hours per week). This is a unique opportunity for our community and one we are very proud of. We are the only school in southern Sydney offering this program. FASS Playgroup We host FASS playgroup every Tuesday morning. A chance for parents and carers to get together and speak French with each other and their children. BONJOUR BABIES A bilingual French program for preschool age children, held every Monday morning in our school library. If you would like to know more about these programs or learning French at TPPS, please complete the form below. |
A MURAL IN THE MAKING....
Our school has undertaken a major project - the painting of a 30m long mural. We are fortunate to have our very own Artist in Residence, Sarah Reilly. She has a degree in art and is currently studying Art Therapy. Sarah has an amazing breadth of skills and these are all being put to good use, along with her inspirational vision of the artwork.
This is a collective school project where all children from the school will participate in its completion. We are promoting cross cultural communication through art and providing a safe place for kids to work collectively, in the hope that we can promote respect, care and awareness of the many diverse cultural backgrounds that make up our unique school.
The art work is based on the principles and ideals of Japanese lino cut and the Indigenous perspective, where there are no horizon lines. We are incorporating native animals, birds, botanical and sea life so we can dedicate it to the land that surrounds us.
We take this opportunity to thank Crockers Paint and Wallpaper in Box Road, Sylvania. Their generous support of our school has ensured the project was affordable. Please support them when you need paint and say hi from TPPS!
